What will LatineLit refuse to publish?
LatineLit does not publish poetry, memoir, or nonfiction. We do not accept previously published stories or reprints. AI-generated or AI-written work is not accepted. Stories that rely heavily on graphic or gratuitous violence may be declined, and submissions that open with excessive violence may not be read in full.
In what language should submissions be written?
Stories should be written primarily in English. Spanish or Portuguese words and phrases may be incorporated into the text and do not need to be italicized.
When can I submit?
Submissions are generally open year-round, but we close submissions roughly 8 weeks before an issue’s publication date. Anything received after the close is considered for the next issue.
Publication schedule: The magazine is published quarterly—January, April, July, October (on the 15th).
What is the response time?
Once we receive your story, we:
1. review whether it fits our editorial scope and basic requirements, then
2. assess publishability and issue fit.
We aim to move quickly, but we can’t promise a fixed time for response.
