Issue Introduction
The hallmark of Latinx literature, like Latinx life itself, is how it is propelled by inner strength, resilience, and the ability to endure adversity. The Summer 2026 issue of LatineLit features stories that embody these important aspects of our people and culture. These attributes manifest in a wide variety of ways. Some characters find them inside themselves. Others gain strength from their families or the social milieu in which they find themselves. The human experience is infinite.
Editor's Note
Before you open these stories, take a moment to remember why we read. Literature enables us to experience places and emotions larger than ourselves; it both relies on, and enhances, empathy. These stories will take you places. They may be as near as next door or as far as the other side of the globe, but they will leave you in a different mental state than you were before reading them. As they expand the geography of experience, they also enrich out lives. Enjoy.
